Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC T32, Position Description Number PDD2194000and is part of the AZ SAAO, National Guard.

Duties

This position is located with the State Aviation Office. The aircraft and systems maintained primarily involves those UAS where the aircraft relies on the Flight Control System to automatically set the main flight parameters based on navigational information input by the operator. The UAS mission involves a variety of functions such as surveillance, reconnaissance, combat search and rescue support, and potential target illumination, laser targeting, etc., when airframe capabilities permit. This position is required to support and sustain a regular and reliable operator flight training program.

  • ARIZONA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Army National Guard, in a military organization supported by the SAAO.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • This position is subject to rotating shifts.
  • Incumbent must possess a Secret Security Clearance.
  • This position is in Marana, Arizona with potential for relocation to Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Any relocation changes are to be determined.

Enlisted: E1/PVT - E6/SSG

Warrant Officer: W1/WO1 - W2/WO2

Warrant Officer: 150U

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:- Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 18 months experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.

How You Will Be Evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics):

1. Knowledge of flight characteristics and performance of assigned aircraft: RQ-7B "Shadow". Must have the competency to inspect all components of unmanned aircraft repairs which may include instrument, electrical, armament, fuel, hydraulic, power train, battery, sheet metal, welding, machined parts, and all UAS ground equipment involved in ground operations.

2. Knowledge of the operational characteristics and capabilities of mechanical and hydraulic systems in order to evaluate the level of workmanship, the usability and durability of both the components and the repairs and adjustments made.

3. Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical principles, the variety of equipment worked on and the interrelationship of components to ensure that problems are properly diagnosed, and all components and subsystems are correctly repaired and operational.

4. Knowledge of systems configurations as outlined in pertinent maintenance technical manuals, technical bulletins, manufacturers' specifications, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, messages, and modification work orders and, standard shop operating procedures to determine repair compliance to military specifications.

5. Skill in managing maintenance records to ensure completed daily, monthly, and yearly inspections. Provides technical inspection and quality assurance of completed maintenance work that ensures adherence to the standards and practices established by applicable publications.
