JOB SUMMARY

The Sussex County Miners of the Frontier League are looking for an assistant groundskeeper. This position consists of performing the day-to-day maintenance of Skylands Stadium, batting cage area and other common areas at Skylands Stadium. This is a seasonal, part time position with hourly pay that will be based on experience. This position reports to the Director of Stadium Operations but works closely with the Head Groundskeeper. Applicant should be motivated and looking to expand their knowledge in the sports/turf industry. This position has the possibility of becoming a full-time position.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • Execute the maintenance of field at Skylands Stadium and common areas with regards to playability and aesthetics.
  • Performs outdoor tasks including mowing, edging, infield clay work, mound/home plate repair, tarp pulls, batting practice set-up and break-down, and pre/post game preparation and repair. Ability to perform manual labor is expected.
  • Help with Stadium Operations duties as needed, also maintenance of all equipment around the stadium.
  • Participate in setup, teardown of special events including youth baseball tournaments, camps/clinics, other non-gameday events and team organized on field events.
  • Maintenance of all skinned areas, bullpens, warning track, both Short Cut Kentucky Blue grass and common grass around the stadium.
  • Assist with maintenance of all batting cages and the Grounds Crew shop and storage buildings.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Candidate must be hard working, self-motivated, and able to work in a variety of weather conditions (rain, snow, cold, etc.)
  • Able to hustle around the stadium, lift 50lbs repetitively, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must keep a professional appearance and act accordingly around professional athletes.
  • Ability to consistently be at work on time, follow instructions, respond to management directions, commit to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals and complete necessary tasks.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to accomplish goals under strict timelines.
