This start-up company (Mercedes-Benz Second Life Solutions LLC - "MB SLS") focuses on innovative and sustainable ways of remanufacturing and 2nd-life business for high voltage batteries as well as the used-parts business. The organization is targeted to grow up to 25 team members and continue to grow in revenue as well as in its area of responsibilities. Mercedes-Benz Second Life Solutions is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz North America Corporation and is located next to the Mercedes Benz United States International plant in Vance, AL. Across its various responsibilities, the entity is staffed by professional employees in the areas of Project Management, Customer Management/Sales, Battery Analysis Experts, Parts & Vehicle Engineer, Logistics and Warehouse Management, Customs and Data Management, Purchasing, Finance, Accounting and Controlling. It also manages an external service provider who operates a warehouse in Alabama on MB SLS's behalf

Under general supervision, define, launch and continuously improve the processes of the battery plant in order to meet or exceed the shop's safety, quality, efficiency, and cost targets in accord with the Mercedes Production System (MPS)
Ensure process integrity through implementation of MPS
Monitor and evaluate existing processes to ensure the highest level of Team Member safety, production quality, and line throughput is maintained
Lead problem solving activities in cross functional groups to solve process/product/system failures
Plan and prepare for product changes and their impact on process, equipment, tooling, etc
Manage all trials and changes which impact production safety, quality, efficiency or cost
Manage shop throughput by analyzing station cycle time, through-put, variant management, and Work in Process (WIP) standards
Assist in training for production leadership on product/process changes
Manage and coordinate outside contractor activities which include bid package preparation (scope of work, specifications, installation, buy-off and scheduling)
Assist with arranging training for new technologies in conjunction with the overall battery plant strategy
Ensure proper level of self sufficiency for multiple technologies in the battery plant through classroom and hands on training
Review equipment and shop layout proposals/drawings for input to process capability and MPS
Continuously improve the performance of manned and automated stations in the battery plant
Act as the central contact for function and buildup of battery production systems and engineering related questions
Execution of battery field tests as required

Perform safe work practices and participate in trainings and safety programs in a positive and proactive way by following safety rules, procedures, regulations, standards and laws. Report all unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and injuries to supervisor or Human Resources
Work safely 100% of the time
Perform other duties as required
Qualifikationen QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience and Necessary Skills all must be met in order to qualify for position

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, and Industrial Engineering, or in a related area, and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years' of relevant professional experience in the following area(s):
Automated assembly environment in an engineering function

Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc.:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Project)
Ability to lead cross functional problem solving activities and work in a "startup" environment
Ability to work on and around high voltage batteries
International and domestic travel is required

Preferred Skills:
Autocad, Catia Version 5, SAP, VisView Version 8, Siemens NX
Working knowledge of process engineering supported technologies: robotics, vision systems, sealer applications and torque tools
