Washington County's Department of Assessment and Taxation (A&T) is currently seeking a Bilingual Senior Administrative Specialist in the Special Programs Unit to join our team!

The Department
The Special Programs unit consists of four Administrative Specialists II, one Senior Administrative Specialist, and one Supervisor. The Special Programs unit serves several thousand customers each year. Work is performed in a fast-paced customer service environment and requires frequent contact with customers at a counter, over the phone, and by email. The services provided include passport acceptance, Senior/Disabled Deferrals, Veteran and Active Duty Military Exemptions, manufactured structure ownership transfers, and the department switchboard. The Special Programs unit also assists other Assessment & Taxation business units with a variety of assessment and tax duties throughout the year.

The Opportunity
This Senior Administrative Specialist is a lead position that reports directly to the Special Programs Supervisor. This position requires excellent customer service skills and team skills. The position requires a working knowledge of all the unit's programs in order to support the supervisor, assist in training staff, and exercise considerable judgment when resolving issues.

The working hours are 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. Due to the heavy customer interaction in the services we provide, this position is not eligible for remote work.

Primary duties for this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Assist the supervisor in training and guiding staff in all areas of service, including passport acceptance, Senior/Disabled Property Tax Deferral, Veteran's Exemptions, mobile home ownership transfers, mailing address updates, and public records requests. Perform and back up all services as needed.
  • Train staff on how to navigate, enter, retrieve, and research information using the A&T Orion system when answering customer's phone calls, as well as how to recognize and transfer calls as needed to appropriate subject matter experts in the Special Programs unit and in other units.
  • Serve as primary point of contact and lead specialist for processing the daily deposit in Wisard. Respond to finance's inquiries regarding Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) checks.
  • Serve as a first level of escalation resource for other Special Programs unit staff. Perform customer relations related to routine correspondence.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent AND
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience providing administrative or clerical support.

Additional Licenses, Certificates, Physical Abilities And Specialty Requirements:
  • Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check post offer.
  • Requires oral and written fluency in another language.
