Summary:
As a member of the Supply Chain team, Buyer I is responsible for the preparation and placement of purchase orders utilizing Safran Test Cell's ERP system. Additionally, they will work to ensure a smooth and customer-oriented process by tracking and expediting orders and actively solving problems as they arise under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare and place purchase orders utilizing company ERP system
• Track and expedite orders, solving problems such as late delivery, variation from specifications, incorrect pricing, etc.
• Participate in supply chain evaluation, qualification, and management of supplies
• Organize, update and retain product information files and purchase order records
• Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations and provide recommendations, decrease inefficiencies in manufacturing times, streamline work processes and implement enhancements, and work cooperatively with project principles
• Continuously learn supply chain principles and processes under direction of the Supply Chain Manager
• Evaluate proposals for completeness, accuracy, and policy compliance under the supervision of the Commodity Manager and/or Senior Buyer
• Work with Project Management and others to determine if/when invoices should be paid.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support Senior Buyer and Buyer II in soliciting quotations and issue purchase orders for commercial parts based on bills of material from engineering drawings
• Under supervision from the Commodity Manager or Senior Buyer and in conjunction with technical specifications from Engineering, write requests for quotes and extends invitations to bid to appropriate suppliers
• Support Senior Buyer and Buyer II with project management to meet budgets and delivery schedules
• Support shipping function responsibilities, such as completing shipping documentation, arrange crating services, work with freight forwarders and courier services to arrange delivery of equipment
• Communicate with domestic and international suppliers, coordinating the delivery goods per project requirements
• Other duties as assigned

Candidate skills & requirements
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or a related field preferred
• In lieu of a degree, 1-2+ years of experience in manufacturing procurement, preferably both domestic and international will be considered
• High School diploma or GED required

Qualifications:
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of the purchasing flow cycle
• Knowledge of international business practices relating to the purchase, currency, costing, payment terms, Incoterms, shipping, taxes
• Ability to read and interpret engineering Bills of Material
• Must demonstrate exceptional communication skills by conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively and asking questions where clarification is needed
• Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; actively seeks opportunities to improve quality and monitors own work to ensure quality is met
• Self-motivated, organized, able to multi-task, prioritize and excel in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the firm
• Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office programs to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Able and willing to travel up to 20% of the time both domestically and internationally, as required
