AChild Welfare Case Manager provides case management services to children and families involved in the child welfare system. This position will include foster care case management, in-home case management, and back up for CPS cases for children/youth.

Essential functions of this position include the following:
  • Assess and provide appropriate foster care management service for children.
  • Develop treatment plans and goals for children, natural parents, and foster parents.
  • Refer children and families for appropriate services in attempting to reunite family.
  • Participate in case child and family team meetings.
  • Provide consultation and supervision for foster parents in relation to behavior management of the child(ren).
  • Coordinate and supervise visitations.
  • Request petitions and testify at court proceedings.
  • Maintain accurate and continued documentation and data input as mandated by State and Federal regulations.
  • Emergency on call for foster care and child protective services.
  • Must be willing to work non-traditional work hours on occasion to accommodate home visits and being on-call for child welfare emergencies.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of work efforts, observations and progress in compliance with policy/regulations while using prescribed computer systems.
  • Strong computer literacy, high level of verbal and written communication skills, and the successful completion of a standard background and criminal record check are required.
  • Represent Northern PrairieHuman Service Zonein a positive and professional manner.
  • Must have the ability to travel as needed and the ability to visit clients in their own homes using personal vehicles when aZone vehicle is not available.

Minimum Qualifications:

Family Service Specialist III requires a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, education, human services, child development and family science, human resource management (human service track), or criminal justice, and two years of professional human services work experiences as a social worker, child protective service worker, or professional case manager. A Master's degree in one of the areas above may substitute for one year of the work experience requirement.
  • If unable to find a qualified candidate, will consider filling this position as a Family Service Specialist II, with a minimum starting salary of $4003 - $5337. Minimum qualifications require a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, education, human services, child development and family science, human resource management (human service track), or criminal justice, and one year of professional human services work experience as a social worker, child protective service worker, or professional case manager; or a Master's degree in one of the areas above.
  • If no qualified applicants are found, we will consider filling as a Family Service Specialist I with a minimum starting salary of $4003. Minimum qualifications require a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, education, human services, child development and family science, human resource management (human service track), or criminal justice.
Northern Prairie Human Service Zonewill require the individual in this position to attend and maintain ND Child Welfare Certification. Consistent with policy, any offer of employment from Northern Prairie Human Service Zone will be considered provisional upon confirmation of a cleared criminal background check.

This position will require periodic work during non-traditional hours and participation in on-call duties. The position requires a valid driver's license, an automobile and adequate insurance.
