FULL TIME RECEPTIONIST

Monday - Friday, Evening Shift; 3:00PM-11:00PM

Position Summary:

The receptionist is responsible for facilitating the flow of the organizations information and to provide a positive, responsive environment for receiving internal and external customers via telephone and face-to-face. The receptionist operates a multi-line switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls to their appropriate destination. Greets and screens all visitors before allowing them to proceed throughout the hospital. Acts as an information center to all visitors. JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Answers and responds to incoming telephone calls promptly and in a pleasant, courteous, and clear manner.
• Carefully screen calls before transferring them to the units and always requests patient's confidentiality number before transferring.
• Uses pages appropriately over the intercom system, speaking clearly and in a moderate tone; limits pages to emergencies, caller requests, or authorized announcements.
• Screens all visitors before allowing them to proceed past the hospital lobby, making sure all visitors check in and out.
• Supports the hospital's safety and security programs and complies with policies and procedures.
• Remains calm and efficient in crisis situations.
• Works closely with the Intake department and follows procedures when prospective patients arrive.
• Keeps the hospital lobby areas clean and tidy at all times.
• Signs for and receives incoming deliveries and notifying the receiver.
• Greets and responds to applicants for employment and notifies them of how to apply online.
• Reads the communication log daily for new and recent communication.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

This position requires knowledge of high school level reading, writing, and arithmetic, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience operating a multi-line switchboard preferred.
