About the College/Unit/Department

The Workforce Education (WE) Program is housed within the Mary Frances Early College of Education (MFECOE), which consists of nine departments and approximately 220 faculty members.
The WE Program consists of eight full-time faculty members with a variety of research interests. The WE program offers BSEd, MEd, MAT, EdS, EdD, and PhD degrees and attracts and supports national and international doctoral students. We have strong collaborative relationships with colleagues in STEM disciplines, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and state school districts. Specifically, our recently established BSEd in Workforce Education (Engineering and Technology) initial certification program offers rich coursework and rigorous field experiences that prepare students to teach in middle school and high school engineering and technology education

  • A doctorate in career and technical education, workforce education, or related field earned by the start date of the position.


Position Summary

The Department of Workforce Education and Instructional Technology at the University of Georgiainvites applications for a position as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Workforce Education to begin August 2024. The position is a non-tenure-track, academic year appointment with the possibility of summer employment.

The successful candidate will:
  • Coordinate the BSEd in Workforce Education (Engineering and Technology) program.
  • Assist with the coordination of the program's career and technical education (CTE) emphasis areas.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in workforce education.
  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students, and supervise students seeking teacher certification in career and technical education.
  • Work with faculty, university advisors, school district administration, and others to market academic programs, and identify and recruit outstanding students.
  • Work in conjunction with program faculty on curriculum development, policy development and review, and general student support.
  • Contribute to the collegial community of the department to maintain programs of excellence in research and teaching.
  • Provide service to the college, university, profession, and public.


Additional Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • A record of three or more years teaching experience in a CTE-related area.


Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

Desired Qualifications:
  • Teaching history as a certified CTE teacher in a secondary education setting.
  • Background in STEM-education and/or Family and Consumer Science-education related fields are especially encouraged to apply.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Desired Qualifications:
  • A commitment to the development of undergraduate and graduate students in teacher preparation programs in CTE.
  • Evidence of creating inclusive learning environments and broadening participation in CTE.
  • Familiarity through instruction or research with current and emerging trends and cultural contexts in secondary, postsecondary, and/or workplace settings.
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaboration, professional interactions, and service.
