PRIMARY FUNCTION:
  • Primary role is to assist in the setup, implementation and delivery of clinical skills labs and simulation activity through the application of lab/simulation technologies such as: computers, audio-visual equipment, networking technologies, clinical task trainers, mid- and high-fidelity mannequins, virtual reality (VR), and shared VR.
  • Inventory control of supplies and equipment and generate request for low-stock items
  • The functional role is related to implementation of the clinical skills and simulation activities. The CSSOS will maintain a safe learning environment and support session facilitators/faculty during activities, break down modules after labs and simulations are completed while appropriately following policies and procedures for sharps precautions and cleanup of all equipment.
  • Demonstrate accountability pertaining to operational efficiency, student privacy, and optimization of time in lab and simulation settings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist in simulation assembly of supplies, computers, manikins, and AV equipment
  • Operate simulators and AV equipment
  • Support end users by resolving hardware and software problems, installation of applications, and deployment of new technology
  • Maintain IT equipment, computers, manikins, AV equipment and software
  • Follow necessary procedures to update simulation software
  • Conduct regular inventory counts for both durable and disposable items
  • Track inventory levels
  • Generate purchase requests for low stock items and send to simulation educator
  • Receive, inspect, and record incoming deliveries of supplies
  • Organize and maintain a clean and safe storage area for all inventory
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies
  • Prepare reports on inventory usage and trends
  • Serve as resource for learners and educators regarding IT- related inquiries
  • Develop and maintain log of AV, IT, manikin updates, and repair for equipment.
  • Effectively communicate with the JCN Director of Simulation and other simulation staff at each campus
  • Independently communicate with equipment vendors and IT support as needed
  • Independently research best practice guidelines and maintain current knowledge of manikin updates, usage problems and new products
  • Collaborate with JCN Simulation Director and other simulation staff at each campus
  • Maintenance and operation of simulators and supplies, including screen-based simulation programs and virtual reality simulators and emerging technologies utilized in simulation
  • Assists faculty and students with IT support as needed for simulation activities
  • Facilitate scenarios and operate manikins for academic programs curriculum
  • Train faculty on manikin operations
  • Other duties as deemed necessary
  • Interact with co-workers, faculty, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.


Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology and/or related field.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION:
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist® (CHSOS®) certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Previous professional experience in healthcare, academic institution or related discipline preferred.
  • IT support experience preferred
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Customer service experience and excellent organizational and customer service skills required
  • Extensive experience with hardware/software platforms required including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • Travel between JCN's Center City (Philadelphia, PA) and Dixon (Horsham, PA) campuses may be required.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required by simulation activities
  • This position requires flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and frequent interruptions

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

This position requires the following:
  • Exceptional diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of IP networking, and related network services
  • Effective professional communication skills (written, verbal, and electronic)
  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of simulation products such as Laderal, Gaumard, and CAE
  • Physical ability to lift, move, and set up equipment weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Effective knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
