Description
Assist import team with proper classification and valuation of imported merchandise. Acts as liaison between US Customs, Customs broker and internal teams to expedite all customs entries. Assist import team to ensure company operates within legal and regulatory requirements set forth by US and Canadian Customs.
1. Assist Big Lots' import operations with compliance of US Customs and other government agency regulations.
2. Works with Big Lots import team to ensure accurate classification of import quotes & duty rates.
3. Assist Big Lots import team with resolving any post entry issues, reconciliation, audits, CF28/29 and amendments.
4. Conducts a variety of ad hoc analysis including Duty Drawback, GSP, Anti-Dumping and Pre-Sourcing activity and makes recommendations to Merchandising to optimize purchases.
5. Assists resolving all Customs or Broker clearance problems. Provides input whether a customs ruling is recommended.
6. Assists the import team with the internal import order database as well as monitors customs broker database.
7. Monitors, analyzes and recommends adjustments of classifications based on product analysis.
8. Assist with drafting Customs related operations procedures and assists in the development of automated solutions related to customs transactions.
9. Monitors and researches new regulations of customs and other government agencies that may impact import operations including FDA, USDA, Fish and Wildlife, DOT, etc. Recommends and implements changes to operational procedures based on findings.
10. Assist with quarterly entry audits.
11. Prepares and collects documents for Customs audits.
12. Works with Import team on variety of tasks and projects related to import operations, to be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
1. Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience required.
2. Customs Brokerage (LCB) license preferred, but not required.
3. 2 - 3 years experience in a Customs and/or Logistics related position required.
4. Strong analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing rules while maintaining service levels required.
5. Strong computer and Microsoft Office skills including proficiency in Excel required.
6. Ability to adapt to and function within various system applications required. SAP proficiency preferred.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication, relationship building and organizational skills required.
