My client is seeking a self-motivated and resourceful Data Architect to join their team. You will work in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment where you will be relied on for your expertise, professionalism, and collaboration. Your specific role is to manage and optimize our company's electronic health record, focusing on long-term, scalable solutions for data architecture. You will be responsible for the E.H.R. format and structure, including revenue cycle management and the creation of new insurance packages, templates, order sets, and other necessary functions. You will also be responsible for reporting, including clinical outcomes, financial metrics, operations, and billing. This role requires expertise in Athena, R.C.M. structures and a deep understanding of data architecture and management principles, to support business objectives and long-term strategy for optimal data enterprise architecture.

Job Responsibilities

  • Data Architecture:


  • Understand and translate business needs into data models to satisfy enterprise analytics & reporting needs.
  • Work with the product team to design and implement data strategies, build data flows, and develop conceptual, logical, and physical models.


  • Optimize and update logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects.
  • Maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models along with corresponding metadata.
  • Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models.
  • Recommend opportunities for the reuse of data models in new environments.
  • Perform reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and SQL scripts.
  • Evaluate data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies.
  • Validate business data objects for accuracy and completeness.
  • Analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions.
  • Develop data models according to enterprise standards.
  • Own the design and implementation of data architecture solutions, focusing on E.H.R. (Athena) optimization and integrations with other software.
  • Develop strategies for optimizing data storage, retrieval, and analysis within Athena and R.C.M. systems.
  • Design enterprise architecture with scalable solutions.


  • Reporting Ownership:


  • Own the development and maintenance of reporting solutions, including clinical outcomes reporting, operational reporting, and billing reporting.
  • Develop customized reports and dashboards to meet the needs of various stakeholders.
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights related to clinical outcomes and billing processes.
  • Develop operational reports to track key performance indicators and metrics.


  • Athena (E.H.R.) Management:


  • Lead efforts to clean up and optimize Athena data structures and configurations.
  • Implement best practices for data management and governance within the Athena platform to align with data architecture.


  • R.C.M. Management:


  • Lead efforts to clean up and optimize R.C.M. services, data structures and processes.
  • Implement strategies to improve revenue cycle efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Creation of new insurance packages inside of the E.H.R.
  • Ensure that new insurance packages are configured correctly and aligned with business requirements.


  • Collaboration and Expertise:


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data architecture and reporting solutions meet business requirements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Athena and R.C.M. systems, providing guidance and support to team members.


  • Documentation and Training:


  • Create and maintain documentation for data architecture, reporting solutions, and Athena/R.C.M. configurations.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on data-related tools and technologies.


  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Communicate project status, updates, and critical milestones to stakeholders, including senior management and external partners.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Data Analytics, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, etc.).
  • A master's degree in a related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with E.H.R. systems, preferably Athena, including optimization and integration.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare data architecture, focusing on E.H.R. optimization and revenue cycle management.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in agile project management methodologies.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, including quality metric reporting, risk adjustment, and factors involving optimal reimbursement.


  • One year of managerial experience, preferably in a healthcare or project management setting.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to E.H.R. optimization, revenue cycle management, and quality reporting.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
