Job Duties

The Deputy Clerk (Grade 8) is assigned operational responsibilities in a fast paced, high-volume office which requires the ability to multitask and meet frequent deadlines. Ensures court's instructions are executed and legal documents are prepared with accuracy and in accordance with appropriate policies and procedures.

Duties include preparing detailed court documents in accordance with established guidelines, automated case management system data entry, scheduling matters for court, preparing correspondence, scanning court documents and alpha/numeric filing of court documents, docket preparation, attending court sessions. This position performs case processing duties for traffic, criminal, and civil cases. The applicant must be able to interact with the public and other agencies with tact, courtesy, and in a professional manner. Duties will include several hours of standing, while assisting individuals at the counter. Additional responsibilities include open and process mail, answer telephones and respond to request from the public and other agencies regarding fines, trials and arraignment hearing dates, adjudication, and other information pertaining to court processes and policies. Accessing fines and costs, calculating filing fees, and receipting payments. Must be able to multitask and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be detail-oriented, organized, able to balance priorities in a busy office and to multitask. Excellent customer service skills, written and verbal communication skills and advanced knowledge of office automation systems and computer software preferred.
