Job Description:

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for completing maintenance projects and specialized maintenance needs within assigned area. Ensure compliance with Company safety policies as well as legal compliance with applicable laws and regulations. May be responsible to oversee the day-to-day activities and workload of associates within the department.

Here's what you'll do:

• Responsible for completing maintenance projects and specialized maintenance needs within assigned area (i.e., Ammonia, HVAC, ThermoKing, DOT inspections) in a timely and accurate manner.
• Ensure compliance with Company safety policies as well as legal compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Monitor maintenance spend.
• Provide expert technical knowledge within applicable role.
• Dismantle, install and repair parts, electrical apparatus, mechanical and/or refrigeration systems and/or components equipment and machinery within assigned area.
• Assemble and test equipment/systems to ensure correction of necessary repairs and maintenance.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of maintenance records.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
• Work with distribution director and operations management on an on-going basis regarding workload planning and priorities, financial performance (budget and expenses) and special projects.
• Oversee the day-to-day activities and workload of associates within the department as appropriate.
• Assist with and/or oversee the maintenance of basic preventative, routine and corrective maintenance responsibilities.
• Maintain current knowledge of regulations and laws within assigned area (i.e., DOT, OSHA, EPA, etc.) to ensure compliance.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Here's what you'll need:

• Driver's License (Required)
• Four years mechanical/machinery/facility maintenance experience as applicable to assigned area.
• Must be able to work up to sixty (60) hours per week including nights and weekends.
• Must pass a DOT physical examination and subject to periodic random alcohol and drug tests.
• Technical certification and/or specialize certification within assigned area required (i.e., HVAC, ThermoKing, Ammonia, etc. as applicable to the role).
• Building Maintenance: Building maintenance experience required; forklift certification and experience with material handling equipment maintenance a plus.
• Diesel Mechanic: Diesel mechanic experience required. Valid Commercial Driver's License / Class A and good driving record.
• Responsible for building/facility maintenances such as buildings, grounds, water, fire systems, etc. as well as material handling equipment (MHE).
• Must have strong knowledge and experience with OSHA, EAP and RMP standards, regulations and requirements, and working experience with industrial equipment, building maintenance and refrigeration systems.
• Work closely with warehouse operations and corporate engineering department regarding construction projects.
• Diesel Mechanic - Tractor/Trailer Maintenance Responsible for diesel tractors/trailers maintenance such as trailer refrigeration systems, DOT inspections, etc.
• Must have strong knowledge and experience with OSHA and DOT standards, regulations and requirements, and working experience with diesel tractor/trailer mechanics.
• Must be able to operate trailer landing gear and move converter dolly.
• Work closely with warehouse operations and corporate transportation department regarding special projects.
• Proficiency in the use of mechanical tools required.
• Must have necessary mechanic tools to maintain and repair machinery and equipment.
• Must be able to listen to and visually inspect machinery in order to diagnose maintenance needs.
• Ability to read schematics.
• Must be able to safely drive required equipment.
• Good communication skills, written and verbal, to communicate and/or document maintenance needs and status of projects.
• Good organization and prioritization skills.
• Ability to lead day-to-day activities and adapt to change.
• Must report for work regularly and on time, as scheduled.
• Must be able to take direction from supervisor(s) and works well with others.
• Must work well under pressure, and is able to organize and prioritize work assignments, and meet established deadlines.
• Must perform assigned tasks accurately and completely.
• Must be flexible and able to handle changes in work requirements productively.

While performing the duties of this position, employees are subject to a warehouse environment and may frequently be exposed to changes in temperature and humidity based on assignment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Employees must be able to work weekends, holidays, days and night hours, and overtime as necessary and as assigned, and must be able to work in the condition specified for 8-10 hours shift as assigned. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
