The Liquidity Risk Management team is a part of the Global Treasury Organization at American Express. The team's core objective is to ensure the company meets its regulatory liquidity needs by forecasting the company's regulatory liquidity requirements, collaborating with the funding team to ensure timely funding of those needs, and performing Liquidity Stress Testing (LST) to ensure the company remains compliant with all regulatory liquidity requirements on an ongoing basis.
This Director role is an amazing opportunity to lead a group of high-performing colleagues responsible for ensuring that American Express successfully migrates from a Category IV bank to Category III & II in coming years. This requires ongoing interpretation of regulatory requirements, incorporating the requirements within the company's Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR), Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR) and the LST framework, including the review and refresh of all assumptions and documentation of treatment into the Liquidity Risk Management process.
The successful candidate will play the role of expert in liquidity related regulations and understanding of its applications to a company's liquidity risk management processes and practices. The role also requires an appreciation of bank governance related activities, regulator expectations and ability to collaborate with second and third lines of defense in uplifting the company's liquidity risk management practices.

How will you make an impact in this role?
- Lead FR 2052a, LCR, NSFR and LST regulatory rules interpretation, and serve as subject matter expert in support of liquidity risk management and relevant regulations with internal business partners (e.g., Business Unit Finance, Planning, Controllers, Internal Audit, and Risk, Information, and Banking).
- Identify, measure and monitor liquidity risks and strategically manage liquidity for the firm.
- Support preparation of key committee materials and preparation of documentation.
- Support identification and management of data sources used for liquidity management, including data definition, data model management, coordination with central data office and management of changes in upstream data sources.
- Perform analysis and review of Liquidity related assumptions, methodologies and processes for liquidity sources and uses.
- Document the bank's processes and rationale for treatment of all products and transactions.
- Analyze and interpret liquidity buffer (target), including key drivers and trend analysis.
- Partner with the company's bank legal entity management teams to craft and maintain liquidity related processes at regulated entities.
- Support management of key projects related to liquidity, including regulatory remediation, compliance and systems enhancements and other change management projects.
- Drive communication in various bank governance committees, collaborate with second & third lines of defense, and support leaders in various dialogs and exams by regulatory bodies.
- Lead and develop a team.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years Finance/Treasury experience.
- Ability to adopt a broad perspective and link business strategies to liquidity risks.
- Self-starter, with a proactive approach and a passion to consistently deliver high quality results.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate closely with internal and external business partners.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and manage competing priorities effectively and drive results while meeting critical deadlines.
- An analytical approach coupled with strong process management skills and ability to drive enhancements.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required.
- Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in liquidity regulations (FR 2052a, LCR, NSFR, Liquidity Stress Testing) with hands on working experience.
- Graduate degree.
