The primary duties of the Sr. Environmental/Civil Engineer are to conduct, supervise or direct a multitude of waste and remediation engineering projects.

In this role, we'll count on you to:

  • Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of large multidiscipline projects or medium-sized projects with high degree of technical complexity, typically involving a large project staff.
  • Establish client relations and be involved in business development, marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.
  • Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project development to complete documents on schedule.
  • Implement QA/QC procedures.
  • Work on a wide variety of MSW or CCR waste related projects including but not limited to landfills, waste impoundments, transfer stations, material recovery facilities, household hazardous waste facilities, and organics facilities.
  • Work on diverse remedial engineering projects that with a wide range of contaminants (VOCs/SVOCs/metals/PCBs/NAPL) in all types of media (soil/groundwater/sediment/bedrock/abandoned mines, etc.) utilizing innovative remedial technologies (P&T/removal/containment/dredging/ISS/chemical oxidation/bioremediation/capping).
  • Lead a team of staff engineers in preparation of design deliverables including strategic planning, engineering design reports, construction drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates and construction schedules with support from HDR's national practice leads.
  • Participate in meetings with clients and regulatory agencies to resolve technical issues and negotiate remedial actions.
  • Will also serve as a consultant and supervisor of waste and remedial construction management projects as needed.
  • Work independently on technical tasks involving data analysis, interpreting results, and preparing technical reports, plans and specifications.
  • Delegate and supervise junior engineers on waste and remediation design components and staff of professionals and technicians on remedial investigations
  • Train and mentor personnel as established by strategic plans.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 7 years experience, MSW/CCR facility, remediation engineering, or related experience preferred.
  • Proven leadership and Project Management skills required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of client relationship management and evidence of experience interacting directly with clients higher preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Teams, OneNote, etc.). Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
  • Must be detail-oriented and a team player with great communication, technical writing, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in client marketing and proposal development.
  • Demonstrated experience in project development and execution in the Public and Private sectors.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or closely related Engineering field
  • Previous experience designing and creating plans and specifications for environmental engineering projects, such as remediation design and implementation
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task
