Position Description

Job Summary: The Roller Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining road rollers and compactors to compress various types of materials such as soil, gravel, concrete, or asphalt. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction processes and safety regulations, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions: 1. Protect family and friends. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Conduct daily safety inspections and participate in safety meetings. 2. Focused. Operate heavy equipment including road rollers and compactors to compress materials for road construction, airport runways, and other infrastructure projects. 3. Mastery. Ensure materials are evenly distributed and compacted according to project specifications and engineering requirements. 4. Ownership and caring. Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure functionality and safety. Report any malfunctions or necessary repairs to the maintenance team. 5. Respect and engage. Work closely with other equipment operators, laborers, and site supervisors to coordinate activities and ensure project timelines are met. 6. Results matter. Maintain accurate logs of daily operations, maintenance activities, and project progress.

Position Requirements

Requirements, Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating rollers or similar heavy equipment in a construction environment, preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training in heavy equipment operation preferred.
  • Valid driver's license. Certification in heavy equipment operation is a plus.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining road rollers and compactors.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and compaction techniques.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project plans.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

    Travel: Position may require up to 100% travel by personal vehicle to offices throughout the region based on the needs of the business.

    Work Environment/Physical Demands: This position works outdoors in hot, humid and/or inclement weather. Heavy work that includes moving objects up to 100 lb. or more. This position works on or near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment. Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion. Must have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
