Job Description

This Finance Manager, Business Development and Acquisitions will provide financial support for AbbVie's Corporate Business & Strategy Office including Business Development & Acquisitions, Global Alliances and AbbVie Ventures. Responsibilities include financial modeling, due diligence and contract review for licensing activities, business acquisitions, divestitures, partnership renegotiations and equity investments. Success in this role requires an individual that is comfortable with uncertainty, a non-routine work environment, and can identify innovative solutions to the unique challenges of each project. The person needs the ability to build creative, data-driven models that highlight critical financial impacts and enable strong decision making on strategic investments. In addition to financial analysis, the ability to understand complex accounting guidance and critically review contracts is essential.

The candidate for this position will need to manage a complicated and critical process and draw on knowledge and experience from all aspects of finance and accounting. While there are no direct reports for this position, it maintains a close working relationship with numerous other functions and leads the financial interface and financial aspects of projects. There is constant interaction at the Director and VP levels with Corporate Strategy teams, Legal, and various financial functions such as Corporate FP&A, Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Commercial Operations and R&D.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required. CFA, MBA or CPA a plus.
  • Seven or more years of progressive, well-rounded finance experience (pharma industry and/or investment banking preferred).
  • Analytical ability (and strong Excel skills) to build financial models to assess market opportunities
  • Effective communication skills with VP and executive level management
  • Self-initiative and drive are critical to this position
  • Aptitude and capability to move into more senior roles in the organization
