Overview: One of our large financial services clients is looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer/ Back End Engineer to play an instrumental role on a newly formed team. This resource will be working on modernizing risk infrastructure to support underwriting and will help with the development on a new platform. Duration: 6 Month Contract to Hire or long-term contract

Location: Remote

Job Responsibilities:

• Maintain very high levels of product quality by focusing on extensibility, code reuse, and thorough testing.
• Work on projects with high code coverage and good documentation, especially self-documenting code.
• Accomplish all technical tasks by fully utilizing existing frameworks and architecture, 3rd party API, platforms and microservices.
• Use organization's cloud-based infrastructure, including 3rd party services, SaaS, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery.
• Participate in various Agile meetings: Poker Planning, Iteration Planning, Daily Scrum, Iteration Review, and Retrospective.
• Estimate time for User Stories. Work with PM to understand and, if needed, improve requirements. Work with QA to resolve defects. Complete User Stories to the satisfaction of PM and Product Owners.
• Participating in the hiring and training of new team members.
• Assessing and managing technical risks.
• Participating in code reviews and ensuring that code is maintainable, scalable and adheres to best practices.
• Participating in the design and implementation of new features and systems.
• Collaborating with other teams, such as QA, to ensure that software is of high quality and meets customer needs.

Expected Technical Background:

• Some experience or the ability to quickly learn modern UI frameworks: React or Angular, ES6+, promises and observables, flux/redux patterns for state management, webpack and hot module replacement, test with enzyme or jester.
• Familiarity with domain driven design, API first development, and test-driven development concepts.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience or similar project experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent degree/experience
• Startup or entrepreneurship experience is a plus
• Authorship of independent projects is a plus

Technologies:

• JavaScript/TypeScript

• SQL and NoSQL databases
• GCP tools (Including but not limited to Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud Functions, Firebase) nice to have.
• REST, API frameworks
• Experience with Integration and Unit Testing Frameworks

Required Skills : Core Java, Spring/Spring Boot, REST APIs, Cloud (GCP preferred, will take AWS/Azure), SQL and NoSQL Databases, Integration/Unit Testing, ORM experience (Hibernate preferred) + Strong Communication Skills (will be interacting with business leaders and developers) FRONT END IS A NICE TO HAVE
