Title:Plant HR Generalist

Location:Roanoke, Virginia

Schedule:M-FHybrid- 4 days on-site & 1 day remote

Type:Contract to Perm Hire

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in HR roles with a focus on recruitment and selection, employee relations, labor relations and training and development within manufacturing industry required.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Organizational Development, Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with a labor agreement in a union environment preferred, but not required.
  • SPHR or PHR Certification preferred.


Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Selection
  • Lead the charge in finding exceptional talent by managing the entire recruitment process, from crafting compelling job postings to extending offers.
  • Innovate recruitment strategies to attract top-tier candidates and cultivate a diverse talent pipeline.
  • Collaborate closely with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and provide expert guidance on selection criteria and interview techniques.
  • Ensure the quality and integrity of new hires through comprehensive reference checks and background screenings.


Training and Development
  • Identify opportunities for employee growth and development to enhance skills and competencies.
  • Assist with delivering engaging training sessions and workshops, empowering our team to reach their full potential.
  • Contribute to the implementation of leadership and management development initiatives, shaping the future leaders.
  • Continuously evaluate the impact of training programs on employee performance and organizational goals, driving continuous improvement.


Employee Relations
  • Be the go-to resource for employees and managers, fostering positive relations and effectively addressing inquiries and concerns.
  • Provide expert guidance on HR policies and procedures, empowering our team to navigate employment matters with confidence.
  • Act as a mediator to resolve conflicts and promote a harmonious work environment.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints or policy violations, implementing corrective actions as needed.


Labor Relations
  • Support our commitment to strong labor relations through positive employee relations.
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with labor union representatives, driving positive outcomes through effective communication and problem solving.
  • Assist in playing a key role in resolving labor disputes and grievances, ensuring fair and equitable outcomes for all parties involved.


Other
  • Champion compliance with regulations and diversity initiatives across our organization and geographic locations.
  • Stay ahead of the curve on changes in HR laws and practices, ensuring the organization remains at the forefront of industry standards.
  • Drive process improvements to maximize efficiency and align with our business objectives.
  • Provide insightful reporting and analytics as needed, supporting data-driven decision-making.
  • Contribute to special projects as required, playing a vital role in our ongoing success.

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and prioritization skills required.
  • Experience in managing employee relations issues, conflict resolution and labor negotiations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in HRIS applications and MS Office Suite.
