GENERAL SUMMARY

The Maintenance Mechanic maintains, and repairs items related to general facility maintenance for RDU Airport Authority facilities. This role also assists with weather related activities such as snow removal and or hurricane preparedness to maintain a 24/7 operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains:
  • Direct expansion air conditioning units
  • A variety of pumps associated with HVAC, from 1 hp to 100 hp throughout the airport
  • The airport's AHUs and ventilation systems
  • Boilers and hot water system
  • Chillers and chilled water system
  • Cooling towers
  • Variable frequency drives
  • Monitors and operates all RDU Building Management Systems
  • Maintains and assists with HVAC water treatment
  • Performs additional related work as required
HIRING RANGE:
  • $ 22.02 - $32.92
QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Required:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
  • Associate degree or Apprentice Program
Experience:

Required:
  • 2 or more years of experience in the HVAC trade
Preferred:
  • 4 or more years of experience in the HCAV trade
Licenses or Certifications:

Required:
  • Valid NC Driver's License
  • CDL class B License (or ability to obtain within 9 months)
Preferred
  • NC Registered Journeyman's Certificate

  • HVAC Systems.
  • Mechanical and utility systems.
  • The use of mechanical and hand tools, power tools and mechanical testing equipment
  • Operation of mechanical high reach lift equipment and bucket trucks

  • Principles and practices of basic bookkeeping.
  • Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment
  • The use of maintenance work order systems for work assignments and documenting work activities
  • Protocols for cleaning hazardous waste spills.

  • Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
  • Performing basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios
