This position is FT-36 hours a week, /Day shift, Monday-Friday. 25% travel.

Position Summary

The Lead Cardiac Sonographer assists the manager/supervisor with maintaining an efficient work environment through allocation of resources, organization of departmental activities, and providing clinical support and expertise to staff. This position will also function in a Cardiac Sonographer role an average of 70%, however this can be more or less depending on business necessity. Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Qualifications

Education
  • High School Equivalent / GED . Required and
  • Graduate of an approved Cardiovascular Technology Program Required and
  • Graduate of an approved Sonography Program with cross-training in echocardiography Required and
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Work Experience
  • 3+ years or greater in echo, preferably in a tertiary care setting Required
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Ability to use all types of echo machines; good computer skills; good communication skills. Required
  • Is a leader in the department and an example to junior staff. Required
  • Promotes sonographer education through mentoring and instructing sonographers, fellows and students Required
  • Exceptional time management and prioritization skills Required
  • This role encounters Protected Health Information (PHI) as part of regular responsibilities. Required

  • Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace. Required
  • Extensive knowledge of cardiac pathology; Required
  • Demonstrated excellence with all aspects of echo exams: transthoracic, transesophageal, stress, pharmacologic, Strain, 3d, pacemaker and LVAD optimization. Required
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) Required or
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
