Licensed child care center for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years, located in Manchester, NH

Who you are:

As the Lead Child Care Teacher for St. Peter's Home Child Care Center (part of Catholic Medical Center), your concern for the wellbeing of the children in your care is self-evident in the way you interact with them on a daily basis. You are mature, loving, nurturing, and you understand that each child is an individual, and support their development to the fullest potential.

This is a per diem position, variable hours depending on department needs.

What you'll do:

• Provide a stimulating, safe, and developmentally appropriate educational environment where children (ages 6 weeks to 6 years) have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills

o Set up the physical environment to promote cognitive learning and self-help skills, while adhering to state guidelines

o Manage classroom behaviors and maintain an emotionally positive classroom through appropriate guidance techniques such as redirection, balance of activities, planned transitions and logical consequences

o Construct and implement daily, weekly and monthly lesson plans.

o Provide semi-annual evaluations of the children and their development.

o Work with other staff to create a professional work environment and role model healthy interactions to the children.

o Supervise or encourage other staff as needed.

• Work with associate teachers and assistant teachers to provide inclusive care

Qualifications

What you'll bring:

• Must meet the qualifications of a lead teacher as outlined by the State of NH requirements. Including but not limited to:

o Have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma, be at least 18 years of age, have a minimum of 1000 hours experience working with children in a licensed child care program, and meet one of the following pre-service training/education options:

o (1) A minimum of 18 credits in child development, early childhood or elementary education, or other field of study focused on children from a regionally accredited college or university, including at least 3 credits in child growth and development;

o (2) Documentation of a non-expired child development associates (CDA) in center based programs awarded by the council for professional recognition;

o (3) A credential from a teacher preparation program accredited by MACTE; or

o (4) Documentation from or on file with the department that she or he was qualified for and employed in the position of lead teacher on or before the effective date of these rules in 2017.

• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
