The Department of Music at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) seeks applicants to fill a full time Lecturer position in Woodwinds, with additional duties in teaching in the Musicianship Skills area (Music Theory) beginning August 1, 2024.
We seek candidates who have strong potential for effectiveness in recruiting new students and teaching a woodwind instrument (Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, or Double reed). Excellence as a performer and willingness to continue performing is also expected. Additional duties may include first and second semester courses in Musicianship skills (an approach to Music Theory). Preference will be given to applicants who have experience teaching a woodwind instrument.

- Ph.D., DMA, or similar terminal degree in Music with a focus on a Woodwind instrument. Individuals who are all-but-dissertation (ABD) will be considered.
- Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching
- Ability to effectively recruit students for UTC Music from high schools and possibly home school associations in Tennessee and north Georgia
- Ability to represent UTC Music well at music festivals, workshops, and/or other events involving high school musicians and/or their music teachers
- Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues
- Demonstrated potential for effective integration of technology into instruction as appropriate.

- Vocal/Choral Music Education, a program that is supported by ensembles for treble voices, male voices, the Chattanooga Singers mixed chorus, the Chamber Singers, an auditioned mixed chorus, the Singing Mocs, an auditioned a cappela ensemble styled after the Pentatonix, and the Guthry Quartet, a scholarship-based men's quartet;
- Music Performance;
- Piano Performance and Pedagogy;
- Composition;
