This appointment is scheduled to begin on August 26, 2024 and end on December 31, 2024. One part-time position is available.

Responsibilities*

Duties of these Lecturer I positions are expected to include teaching, developing course materials, evaluating and grading students, and holding regularly scheduled office hours. A typical full-time (100% effort) load for a Lecturer I in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts is three courses per semester.

The successful candidate will design and teach AMCULT/HISTORY 374 The Politics and Culture of the "Sixties", a 4-credit undergraduate course with support from 3 graduate student instructors. This course examines the nature of American society through a look at the social, political, and cultural movements of the 1960's. Students will explore the questions: How did movements for political and social change affect the nation's political upheavals? What was the relationship between the decade's demographic and cultural changes and the political upheavals of the time? And what role did resistance to political and cultural change during the 1960's play in the development of the conservative political and cultural movements that have been so influential in the decades since?

The successful candidate must be available to teach Mondays/Wednesdays 2:30-4:00PM.

Required Qualifications*

The candidate must hold a terminal or graduate degree in American Studies, ethnic studies, literature, history, anthropology, sociology, media studies, or other related fields. Prior teaching experience at the college/university level is preferred.

The selection criteria used for this search is based on how the applicant's education and experience meet the required minimum qualifications for the position. Excellence in teaching and instruction will be the principal criteria used to select the successful candidate.

Desired Qualifications*

Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in American Studies, ethnic studies, and/or history.
