Machinist Intern - 1st Shift

8-10 Week Internship

Job Summary
Ingersoll Rand is seeking a Machinist Intern to support lean manufacturing cell operations. This summer internship program is looking for performance-driven, innovative students who are working towards their technical degree that understand the importance of collaboration and customer focus.

Responsibilities
•Follow and implement standard work - machine set up, running parts and follow standard operating maintenance procedures before/after each cycle
•Inspect, deburr, and perform manual operations and/or operate other equipment, including the selection and presetting of tools which will be required for the next scheduled job
•Update and maintain visual controls
•Create and/or support countermeasures
•Operate in and maintain a clean and safe environment
•Participate and engage in SMED, Kaizen events, and '5 Whys' problem-solving exercises
•Resolve and/or report equipment abnormalities
•Follow company safety procedures and standards to insure individual and collective safety, in addition to avoiding unnecessary risk to oneself, co-workers, contractors, customers, and property. Be a stand for safety, and have the courage to call forth and report unsafe practices.
•All other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications
•Active student currently in a technical, engineering, or comparable STEM program
•GPA of 3.0 or above in related technical coursework
•Capable of reading and following standard work
•Can use metrology equipment effectively
•Basic math and PC skills
•Resiliency, positive, "can do" mindset and ability to adapt quickly
•Strong, professional communication skills required, both verbal and written
•Strong attention to detail
•Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment and ability to lift a maximum of 40 lbs.
•Works within a manufacturing environment, with exposure to noise, heat, cold, fumes, and chemicals
