Job Duties

Serves as chief clinician in a health district responsible for formal supervision of other Physicians, and certified nurse practitioners by assigning, scheduling, reviewing, and formally evaluating their work. Also provides direct care by performing examinations, diagnoses, treats, counsels and prescribes treatments for patients and makes referrals as needed to other medical and clinical specialists. Work requires licensure by the Virginia Board of Medicine.

Required Licensure/education: MD Degree, and license to practice medicine in Virginia are required; Board-eligible or Board certified in medical specialty.

Minimum Qualifications

MD Degree, and license to practice medicine in Virginia are required.
Board-eligible or Board certified in medical specialty.
Experience supervising medical professionals and ancillary staff.
Experience interviewing, examining, diagnosing and treating patients at a high level of quality.
Experience in communicable diseases, their treatment, and methods of prevention.
Knowledge of principles and practices of general public health.

Additional Considerations

Prior experience in public health, family planning/GYN, and/or STDs preferred.
Prior experience with high-risk OB clients.
