SUMMARY
Under administrative direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Specialist II (ITS II) will serve as Network Security Engineer representing the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC). The Network Security Engineer works independently as the highest level technical specialist in supporting, designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting ABC's complex network security infrastructure including Switches, Routers, Firewalls, VPN's, Network Access Control, IPS/IDS, Web proxy, and SIEM systems for ABC. The incumbent works with business staff, management and other technical experts to develop and maintain the long-term architectural, maintenance, and support strategies for ABC's networking security systems. Makes networking architecture design decisions for project teams and ensures those decisions are consistent with long-term strategies and architecture.

The position is occasionally required to work evenings and weekends to accomplish tasks that have a large impact on the customers' production time. These off-shift hours are planned in advance as much as possible.

In addition, the ITS II will be working in a team environment but must also possess skills to work independently.

Working Conditions

This position will have an opportunity to have a hybrid telework schedule after the initial training and onboarding process.

If the employee is working at an alternate work location during telework, they are required to maintain a safe working condition at the approved site, abide by the Departments Telework Policy and Ergonomic Policy, and agree to maintain a distraction-free remote work environment. Further, employees are required to be available through various forms of communication during work hours.
