Job Summary/Basic Function

Support student success in pathways to and enrollment in Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS), Occupational Health Psychology (OHP), and Occupation Health nursing (OHN) programs, which are offered by Interdisciplinary Collaborations (IC), Health Administrative Services (HAS), and Psychological Science (PS), and Nursing. This includes providing students with academic, financial, personal, and related support as they progress from first year to majors or minors in these programs and perhaps into graduate students.
  • The primary responsibility is to promote enrollment in OHP BS (PS), OEHS minor and BIS (IC), and OEHS BS programs (HAS). This includes working with newly matriculated students interested in these programs through the first year and then having them enroll in one of the targeted programs.
  • Work with BIS, HAS, and Psychological Science programs to manage projects and processes related to informing, recruiting, and enrolling students in OEHS and OHP programs.
  • Work with the Office of Learning Communities to create, recruit, enroll, and support new LC pathways for first-year students to be exposed to OEHS and OHP, including training other advisors and support staff.
  • Work with the OEHS Pathways Coordinator to support the matriculation of High School and tech college students with a potential interest in the OEHS or OHP programs.
  • Work with Nursing to inform and direct BSN students to the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Occupational Health Nursing.
  • Work with other relevant programs and departments as needed to develop and maintain community engagement opportunities for OEHS students with the Center for Community Engaged Learning at WSU and relevant community partners.
  • Conduct workshops and group advisement on relevant topics related to the targeted programs.
  • Review potential OEHS and OHP students' progress and track their use of academic support services and engagement in co-curricular activities.
  • Deliver comprehensive advisement support services to students interested in OEHS and OHP programs from matriculation through the first year and beyond, including phone, online, and email advising students and families regarding the financial aid process and various financial aid and financing options available.
  • Conduct regular outreach to faculty and staff as needed to support student success in these programs.
  • Maintain accurate tracking data and notes for each assigned student, recommending appropriate referrals and opportunities.
  • Represent OEHS and OHP at various on- and off-campus events, such as community events and new student orientation.
  • Work closely with program staff, instructors, and advisors and implement strategies to ensure participants are actively engaged in the program, attend classes, and continue working towards their academic and vocational goals.
  • Advocate for students on pathways to the OEHS and OHP programs, providing them with appropriate program support services and referrals to faculty, campus learning resources, and/or additional external resources.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 year of related experience
