The Operational Excellence Summer Intern will implement and sustain Operational Excellence initiatives, including:
• Continuous improvement teams and Progress Plan
• Gemba Walks
• Electronic Performance Dashboards
• 5S+1 program
• Participative Innovation System
• Training
• Communication of OPEX initiatives
• Lean Steering Committee support
• Facility layout control updates
• QRQC coaching and reporting
• Hoshin Kanri and One Safran projects support
• Value Stream Maps
• Visual factory management

In order to contribute to the company goals of process flow improvements, floor space optimization, lead-time reduction, elimination of defects, inventory reduction and on-time delivery, all in agreement with the company's Operational Excellence vision required to make Safran Aerosystems Evacuation a world-class manufacturer.

Additional description
General Tasks:
o Maintain up to date status for all active, future and completed tasks through the OPEX task file
o Complete monthly progress reporting of Management routines and Teams status.
o Maintain all computer and paper files utilized in the Operational Excellence Engineer function using Lean Office principals to ensure any member of the Company may perform your job activities in your absence.
o Utilize company's network platform to schedule, accept, and decline all meeting invitations. All meetings, travel days, and vacation days must be logged into the calendar.
o Maintain recurring communication with Operational Excellence Engineer/Coordinator/Leader of improvement ideas prior and after implementation, in order to ensure best practices are shared across facilities.

Candidate skills & requirements
• Knowledge of Lean-Sigma tools, such as Value Stream Map, waste identification, Continuous Improvement Fundamentals, 5S+1, Just in time, KPIs, SMED, takt time, pull system, ANDON, Poka Yoke, TPM, FIFO, Kaizen, 7 Quality tools, statistical tools, FMEA, APQP, DOE.
• Language Skills
• Must be fluent in English with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals related to Lean Six Sigma.
• Must be able to clearly and effectively present information to team members and management in English.
• Mathematical Skills
• Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations including rates, ratios, percentages, and yields, as well as statistical analysis.
• Computer Skills
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint,
• Desired experience with Microsoft Access, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD, iGrafx and Minitab.
• Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university.
• Reasoning Ability
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to analyze processes and identify best practices, areas requiring improvement, and activities that do not add value.
• Ability to make decisions based on facts.
• Licenses, certificates, and registrations
• Lean 6 Sigma Certification Desirable
• Other skills and abilities
• Must be able to work independently with little direction.
• Must be able to coordinate meetings in an efficient manner and ensure all members attend.
• Must be able to work effectively within a team environment.
• Must be able to manage multiple projects concurrently
• Must have the ability to deliver to plan and deadlines.
