The Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center at South Dakota State University (SDSU) seeks a collaborative, tech-savvy, people-centered, customer focused leader for the role of Operations Manager. Reporting to the Larson Family Endowed Director, the Operations Manager is responsible for logistical and technical event support, scheduling, and client services, recruiting, training, and supervising student event staff, building, facility, and equipment management. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota and is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
The Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center is a state-of-the-art performing arts center that is the home for concerts, theatrical and dance performances, and special events. The Oscar's mission is to engage its community and foster collaboration by hosting artistic, educational, and cultural experiences that enrich lives, promote lifelong learning in and through the performing arts, and serve as a gateway between SDSU and the greater community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Operations Manager role blends hands-on engagement and managerial oversight and requires the ability to demonstrate a mastery of all technical aspects of performing arts center production. The Operations Manager is responsible for the planning and effective execution of events held in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center through facilities management, accurate scheduling, strong customer service, clear communication with internal and external clients, and the hiring, training, and supervising of student event staff. The Operations Manager must follow and facilitate The Oscar's event and operational processes and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Theater, Arts Administration, Hospitality Management, Facilities Management, or another field clearly related to performing arts center operations management completed by date of application;
- Experience in technical theater or event management strongly preferred;
- Experience with theatrical and/or sound/video/livestream technology;
- Knowledge of and experience working within state health and safety standards;
- Previous supervisory/mentoring experience, preferably in an educational or performing arts setting;
- Project or workflow management experience including the ability to successfully follow and facilitate policies, processes, and procedures;
- Strong oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to work within an established budget;
- Previous inventory management;
- Strong time management and multitasking capabilities;
- Strong attention to detail and customer focus skills; and
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing between 50-100 pounds on a daily basis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced degree in Theater, Arts Administration, Hospitality Management, Facilities Management, or another field clearly related to performing arts center operations management;
- Three or more years of practical work experience in technical theater or event management; and
- Three or more years of supervisory/mentoring experience, preferably in an educational or performing arts setting.
