The Pitt Biospecimen Core (PBC) is an institutional resource for collection, processing and disbursement of Human tissues for research and is dedicated to serving the University of Pittsburgh faculty in meeting their research goals.The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing the Operating Room schedule for their area of responsibility to identify cases and receiving or otherwise obtaining, processing, and banking the human biological materials associated with the protocols in area of responsibility. Processing may include but is not limited to gross dissection of solid tissues and processing of blood products.This position will also perform the following tasks:- Retrieve samples and fill requests for disbursement of specimens based on PBC client requests- Input data into specimen inventory system regarding the collection and disbursement of each specimen- Routine maintenance and data entry for samples received and disbursedExcellent attention to detail is necessary to be successful in this position.
