The Supervisor, Pharmacy Operations will serve as a member of the pharmacy management team. He/she will provide leadership and be responsible for management of multiple pharmacies, services and clinical pharmacists. He/she will be responsible for development of new programs, performance improvement, and other management activities in collaboration with other departments.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy. Bachelor of Pharmacy and/or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred. .
Minimum Work Experience
5 years At least 5 years of Pharmacy practice experience (minimum 3 years in a hospital setting). 1 year supervisory or 2 years administration/team leader experience. .
Required Skills/Knowledge
Individual with an expertise in inpatient pharmacy operations and practices. A strong knowledge of JCAHO and other regulatory agencies' requirements. Ability to lead and manage clinical pharmacists on a daily basis.
Experienced in department budgeting. Proficient in compiling and analyzing data to support decision making.
Required Licenses and Certifications
Pharmacist Pharmacist Licensure in the District of Columbia .

Functional Accountabilities
Strategic Planning
- Contribute to the strategic plan for the department services, including short-term and long-term goals.
- Implement stragetic plans to improved inpatient workflow processes for pharmacists.
- Collaborate with upper management to evaluate the current inpatient processes as well as new programs that will improve effectiviness, feasibility, and cost.
- Ensure compliance with organization and departmental policies and procedures, as well as regulatory standards.
- Provide accurate record keeping and documentation for dispensing activities in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Facilitate in off-site storage of records/documentation as well as retrieval based on regulatory standards.
- Communicate IT record keeping needs to informatics pharmacist(s) as needed to maintain compliance based on regulatory standards.
- Review and update compounding formularies annually.
- Maintain adequate equipment for compounding and create a plan for regular maintenance for equipment.
- Maintain and document appropriate storage of all medications in the main inpatient and satellite pharmacies.
- Work with reverse distributor to ensure thorough inventory outdate checking.
- Provide oversight of all clinical pharmacists to achieve accurate and precise work.
- Assess employee skills and aptitude; provide development and career advancement opportunities when appropriate
- Develop, implement and monitor performance improvement plans when indicated. Initiate corrective/disciplinary action
- Assist with scheduling of clinical pharmacists as well as provide orientation for new clinical pharmacists and document their training in their HR files.
