Day-to-day:
An employer in the San Antonio, TX area is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. This person will have overall responsibilities for the mechanical design on a project. They will help oversee a team of around 4 mechanical engineers. The position will collaborate and direct other mechanical staff during the design and documentation of the mechanical system. The position will coordinate the mechanical design with all other disciplines so that the design is completely coordinated internally as well as with external clients. They will help train and mentor a staff of around 4 mechanical engineers.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare design documents appropriate for the project and in accordance with company standards.
• Advise and mentor staff to help in their growth
• Monitor project status and development to meet project deadlines
• Coordinate the completion of the documents in the appropriate time to have a QA/QC review completed prior to the deadline for the project
• Coordinate staffing manpower needs weekly with the Project Manager
• Assist in interviewing and providing feedback of possible future personnel
• Attend and participate in at least 10 hours of company continuing education, including teaching topics of expertise
• Review the mechanical budget hours and coordinate any recommended adjustments with the Project Manager
Work with the Project Manager to manage manpower needs/timing as well as monitoring the mechanical budget on the project

Required Skills & Experience
• Experience with mechanical engineering in facilities
• Licensed professional engineer
• Experience with Revit or AutoCAD
Experience doing design work in K-12, higher education, healthcare, mission critical

Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• 7+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer
• Knowledge of Bluebeam
• Experience training/ mentoring younger staff
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to meet and socialize with clients to foster future repeat work
Excellent leadership skills
