The Program Coordinator for Peer Mentorship and Student Experiences within the Office of Academic Success and Intercultural Services ( OASIS ), plays a key role in the success of OASIS scholars and others through the development and implementation of student-centered experiences and through the leadership of the Peer Mentor program.

As the Program Coordinator for Peer Mentorship and Student Experience you will:
  • Lead the Peer Mentorship Program
    • Recruit, hire, train, lead and supervise Peer Mentors who work and support the Peer Mentorship program.
    • Plan, create, and deliver professional development for peer mentors and training for the Mentor Leadership team.
  • Lead the Peer 2 Peer pilot program.
  • Provide Student Experiences and Retention Support
    • Develop programs, initiatives and events around building relationships and inclusive excellence, which is the goal of OASIS programming.
    • Create, implement, manage, and evaluate undergraduate programming and workshops.
    • Ensure compliance with program requirements and monitor students' progress to ensure continued retention and steps toward degree attainment.


In addition, theProgram Coordinator supports inclusive excellence learning and professional development experiences that support campus and community wide need and programming across the university.

Staff holding this position will be expected to work some irregular evening hours and weekends. Occasionally travels by vehicle in Lincoln and in the state of Nebraska

Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Sociology, Educational Psychology/Psychology, Leadership, Program. Management/Administration or related field. Two years of experience in education environment in an academic, administrative project or program coordination role (or similar experience). Work history should demonstrate: an ability to work with diverse students and to support the retention of first generation, low income and underrepresented students. Excellent written and oral communication. Strong attention to detail. Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently minimal supervision and as a member of a team is desired.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Higher Education, Sociology, Educational Psychology/Psychology, Leadership, Program Management/Administration or related field. Experience working in Higher Education setting and bilingual abilities are preferred.
