Position Summary & Duties: The Project Engineer - Mechanical is an on-site position working with a pulp and paper client in the Plymouth, NC area.

The Project Engineer - Mechanical plays a vital role in supporting the client's objectives by overseeing the daily execution of major capital and expense projects. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the incumbent ensures that all strategies, capital planning, engineering, procurement, and construction activities are conducted safely and cost-effectively, while ensuring compliance with Government and Company standards, policies, and regulations.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee all aspects of capital, expense, and continuous improvement projects, including scope definition and project execution planning.
• Ensure adherence to EHS regulations and procedures throughout project management processes.
• Develop detailed project plans, metrics, schedules, and resource plans, with a focus on HSE planning and compliance.
• Provide leadership, work direction, and feedback to project teams, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
• Communicate project status to executives and stakeholders through various channels.
• Conduct Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) and provide input into business cases.
• Negotiate contracts with third-party suppliers and service providers.
• Provide technical support and solutions within cross-functional teams.
• Supervise engineering and construction contractors as needed.
• Analyze operational and maintenance issues and provide solutions.
• Prepare procurement specifications and contract documents.
• Manage capital and maintenance projects, including cost control and commissioning.
• Conduct equipment inspections and surveys as required.


Qualifications:

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5-10 years of experience in an industrial mill setting as a Mechanical or Project Engineer.
• Experience in construction management and/or maintenance within an industrial/process plant environment is preferred.
• Proficiency in computer-based maintenance software such as SAP, MS Office, and scheduling software. AutoCAD skills are advantageous.
• Ability to read blueprints and diagrams.
Ability to temporarily relocate for the term of the contract, or commute to the Plymouth, NC area on a daily basis.
