Job Description Summary
The Unit Secretary on the DPOD Unit reports to the Nurse Manager. Under general

supervision, the Unit Secretary is accountable for performance of clerical work related to the nurses’ station. This position serves in the receptionist role at the nursing station; handles incoming and outgoing communications; processes physician’s orders; and maintains charts, records, supplies and, equipment. The Unit Secretary accurately performs computer related tasks.

Job Description

The Unit Secretary on the DPOD Unit reports to the Nurse Manager. Under general

supervision, the Unit Secretary is accountable for performance of clerical work related to the nurses’ station. This position serves in the receptionist role at the nursing station; handles incoming and outgoing communications; processes physician’s orders; and maintains charts, records, supplies and, equipment. The Unit Secretary accurately performs computer related tasks.

A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Basic keyboarding skills required; medical terminology preferred. Applicant must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain a Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
