Job Overview

Come join our dynamic Dispatch team at Red Classic! This lead position with be located at the corporate office in South Charlotte near Carowinds.

Work Schedule will be the following: Monday - Sunday, 5pm - 5am. 3 nights on, 2 nights off, followed by 2 nights on, 3 nights off.

The Lead Dispatchers are expected to execute the plan, route, and schedule for an assigned fleet of trucks, trailers, and drivers to ensure optimum productivity, service levels, and revenue. They must understand and meet the needs of our customers and drivers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides a high level of customer service to the CCC and establishes a good working relationship with each regional general manager, facility manager, planner, driver manager, and drivers. This position will lead and assist the dispatchers on their assigned dispatch shift. Will take the lead on all service issues, including driver accidents, call outs and coverage of open routes.
  • Communicates with customer service and operations personnel to cover service issues to promote on-time service and eliminate empty miles.
  • Ensures optimal driver, unit utilization, and performance through effective load adjustment by monitoring active drivers and equipment via Samsara.
  • Ensures drivers are contacted and report to work promptly and have accurate information to start and complete their day.
  • Ensures all loads are closed out in TMW, whether completed through auto-dispatch or manual and that drivers understand and utilize Samsara.
  • Assists drivers with day-to-day operational and personal challenges (system, customer, equipment, and environment).
  • Assist Area Manager in completing the planned routes provided by planning team. Support the teammates in the CCC with handling of issues that arise throughout their assigned shift.
  • Notifies planner, and customer service of all loads that are moved back to an "available status," answer the phone, and communicate via email in a professional manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Cross collaborative.
  • Experience with Excel knowledge of transportation.
  • Management Systems (TMW Preferred)

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge acquired through up to 12 months of work experience.
