Medical Surgical Telemetry (MS3)
Med Surg 3 (MS3) is a fast-paced 56 bed Adult Medical Surgical Telemetry unit at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford, Maine. The healthcare team provides care to adult complex patient populations from a wide variety of medical-surgical services including, but not limited to, Pulmonary, Renal, Infectious Disease, GI, Cardiac, Hematology/Oncology, and Orthopedics.
Medical-Surgical nursing is the largest nursing specialty where nurses perform an age specific plan of care for a designated group of patients using the nursing process while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. Medical-Surgical nurses develop a broad knowledge base and are experts in their practice. MS3 is a department where staff can develop and utilize advanced organizational, prioritization, communication, and leadership skills while working closely with other healthcare professionals in a team oriented work environment.
We are seeking hard working and compassionate Registered Nurses who are interested in functioning as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide our patients with a safe and supportive care environment. The department is on a self-scheduling model, with normal shifts 12 hours in duration, with the option for every other, or every third weekend rotations.
Position Summary
The health care work force of the future should have the knowledge and skills to provide patient-centered, community-focused, cost-effective, clinically-effective, coordinated care. To do these things successfully, the work force must be competent, flexible, and adaptive to changes in health care delivery and technology. The Registered Nurse is responsible for performance of complex, individualized, family oriented nursing care in accordance with policies and procedures under the direct supervision of a charge/shift leader RN.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: N/A License/Certifications: Current licensure from the Maine State Board of Nursing as an R.N. required. BSN preferred. BLS and ability to perform CPR required. ACLS preferred. Experience: Minimum of one year's acute care experience as an R.N. preferred.
