The Center for Obesity Research and Education (CORE) in the College of Public Health at Temple University is seeking a full time Research Assistant to work on multiple National Institutes of Health-funded studies that aim to address obesity-related health disparities in pediatric populations. The focus of these research projects includes improving dietary intake in adolescents, understanding timing and consistency of children's health behaviors in obesity risk, and enhancing sleep for obesity prevention. The incumbent will report directly to the Project Director and will work closely with the Principal Investigators (PIs; Drs. Hart and Tripicchio) on the above-noted studies. They will also work closely with other project staff.

Essential functions: Responsibilities will include (with appropriate authorization and training provided): participant recruitment and screening for study eligibility; scheduling study assessments with families; meeting all quality assurance and confidentiality guidelines for data collection; assuring accurate completion of data collection from children and parents; coordinating participant incentives; assisting with research specimen collection and delivery; adhering to IRB-approved protocols and complying with institutional policies and guidelines; and assisting with data entry and management. The incumbent will develop skills in configuring and scoring objective measures of sleep and physical activity in school-aged children, and in conducting anthropometric measures. Additional opportunities may be available to begin to develop project coordination skills under the supervision of one/both PIs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Public Health, or related field and minimum of 6 months experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:
*Research and/or work experience involving children and/or adolescents.
*Has transportation and able to assist in collecting specimens from families' homes.
*Demonstrated knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
*Strong oral and written communication skills with proficiency in English.
*Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, with a high attention to detail.
*Strong organizational and time management skills.
*Ability to have a flexible work schedule as needed, including evenings.

Preferred:
*Previous experience on relevant research studies, including in-person quantitative date collection
*Strong interest in pediatric health-related research and/or research focused on promoting health equity and reducing chronic disease risk among vulnerable populations
*Familiarity with data entry systems such as SPSS, Qualtrics, and/or REDCap.

This position requires a background check.

This position is temporarily assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
