Position:

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is hiring a Security Officer Senior for the State Office located in Boise, Idaho.

Responsibilities:

• Greet visitors, determine the purpose of their visit, and direct them to the proper destination or contact the appropriate DEQ employee to assist them.

• Ensure visitors have proper identification visible and do not enter any restricted areas unaccompanied.

• Answer the main agency telephone, determine the nature of the call, and route appropriately.

• Issue necessary paperwork for state identification cards, ensure accuracy of ID information, photograph employees, and issue DEQ ID cards to staff and janitorial crews.

• Ensure building and vehicles are locked down and secure each evening.

• Work with the Safety Coordinator to update evacuation and other emergency plans and coordinate fire drills.

• Maintain the agency vehicle fleet, including inspections, services, repairs, maintenance schedules, purchasing, registering, surplus, disposing, and assisting employees and regional offices with the fleet.

Minimum Qualifications:

Good knowledge of:

• Building security procedures

Experience:

• Applying fire and life safety hazards

• Evaluating and handling disturbances and security emergencies reading, applying, and following written and oral instructions

• Writing business reports, investigative reports, or detailed documentation

• Typing or using a keyboard

Desired Requirements:

• Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance and experience in having vehicles serviced and maintaining service records.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit and work on a computer for 2-4 hours at a time.

• Ability to bend and reach for filing purposes.

• Some periods of heavy reading and typing are required.

• Ability to lift 30 pounds when working with file boxes.

• Ability to climb ladders, staircases, work on uneven terrain.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds over rough terrain.

Other Requirements:

• Valid driver's license
