Humana is seeking a Senior Project Manager position to support the growing number of projects and initiatives within the Wisconsin Consumer Operations department. This position will provide project management (PM) support for several system modernization projects. The Senior Project Manager will also provide ongoing support for enterprise and WI Market initiatives, departmental and vendor related changes and major regulatory changes that require PM oversight.

The Senior Project Manager manages all aspects of a project, from start to finish, so that it is completed on time and within budget. The Senior Project Manager work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Designs, communicates, and implements an operational plan for completing the project.
  • Monitors progress and performance against the project plan.
  • Takes action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays.
  • Identifies, develops, and gathers the appropriate resources and subject matter experts to complete the project.
  • Provides PM support for several system modernization projects, such as upgrades, enhancements, and releases.
  • Prepares designs and work specifications.
  • Develops project schedules, budgets and forecasts, selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors.
  • Communicates with other operational areas in the organization to secure specialized resources and contributions for the project.
  • Conducts meetings and prepares reports to communicate the status of the project, track any risk/issues and discuss resolution or mitigation activities.
  • Sets priorities, allocates tasks, and coordinates project staff to meet project targets and milestones.
  • Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction.
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Required Qualifications
  • Four (4) or more years of project management experience.
  • Experience utilizing project management platforms.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office applications (Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Visio, and Teams).


Preferred Qualifications
  • Project management experience in a health insurance environment.
  • Project management certificate or PMP certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree.


Additional Information
  • Workstyle: Home. Home workstyle is defined as remote but will use Humana office space on an as needed basis for collaboration and other face-to-face needs.
  • Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 5:00 pm CST or EST
  • Travel: minimal travel to Wisconsin and/or Kentucky office.

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:
  • At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
  • Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.
  • Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
  • Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$84,600 - $116,300 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
