Teacher's Aide/Special Education Paraprofessional in the Northern, VA area.
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Special Education Assistant to join the renowned public and private K12 educational institutions in the Northern Virginia area. As a Special Education Assistant, you will work alongside the teacher to support both general education and special education students in the classroom.

SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY
*Provide support to teacher and to students in general education and special education classrooms.
*Ability to communicate with parents.
*Collaborative team player.
*Willingness to work under teacher direction and supervision.
*Ability to work effectively with staff, parents, and children.
*Previous experience working with students with special needs and in an elementary school setting is preferred.
*A clear understanding of the educational needs of both special education and general education students.
*This includes providing assistance with physical or sensory needs. The ideal candidate should be reliable, dependable, and flexible.

CLIENT'S REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
*Assistants must meet the requirements of the NCLB, Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) at the time of hire.
*A high school diploma is required.
*Associate Degree or two years of college study is preferred.
*A minimum of 60 semester hours with at least 12 hours in English or mathematics is also acceptable, depending on the job responsibilities.
*If you do not have a degree, a score of at least 455 on the Para-professional Test is required.
