The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible to provide lead engineering services for server hardware and software, planning system maintenance and support and also develop system management strategies for a variety of software and hardware platforms, including but not limited to, Windows 2000/2003/2008 server, Active Directory, Citrix, Vmware, Unix and EMC storage devices. Responsible to plan and implement necessary hardware and software upgrades proactively. Directly responsible to monitor and maintain Windows 2000/2003/2008 server clusters. Responsible to ensure the operation of a variety of specialized client/server environments such as but not limited to Envision, Blackbaud, Health Master, Ehealth and Optio. Must be able to maintain and configure DNS services. Provide support and management for EMC storage systems. Responsible to provide precise, detailed documentation regarding the various server environments for the change control process and the technical documentation repository.

Qualifications:
Minimum Education
B.S. Computer Science or equivalent experience. Hands on experience in deploying and maintaining thin client technologies based on Citrix. Prior experience in the healthcare industry preferred. (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
4 years At least 4 -5 years of hands-on systems engineering experience with Windows server 2000/2003/2008, IBM Blade technology and/or UNIX systems in an ethernet WAN environment. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
1-2 years hands on experience with EMC and XIV storage systems helpful.

Required Licenses and Certifications
One or more of the following certifications required, MSCE, Vmware VCP, AIX, Citrix, EMC (Preferred)

Functional Accountabilities
Systems Management
  • Provide administration for multiple servers; ensure server availability.
  • Perform network operating system and application software installation/upgrades.
  • Configure server hardware and network communications; assist in the development of configuration standards.
  • Monitor system performance and storage usage; document data backup procedures and provide systems performance and management statistics and reports.
  • Management of system trend analysis and configuration.
  • Provide user account management.
System Integration/ Implementation
  • Determine and configure disk partitions.
  • Integrate hardware and operating systems software into existing network technologies.
  • Assist with integration of various network operating system environments (Novell, AIX, OS400, VMS, NetWare, Windows NT).
  • Implement client/server solutions to support various application's suites; support the implementation of applications into production.
  • Participate in moves.
  • Observe deadlines.
System/Project Planning
  • Recommend hardware and operating systems design and configuration.
  • Disaster recovery planning.
  • Assist in the creation of test plans and scripts for back-up and recovery solutions.
  • Assist in the development of disk storage solutions.
  • Performs hardware and network diagnosis.
  • Capable of devising ways to accomplish a difficult purpose; ability to recognize a problem and construct an effective solution compatible with overall company operations.
Technical Proficiency
  • Demonstrate understanding of standard networking protocols and NDS technology.
  • Maintain professional expertise through continuing education at conferences, seminars, user group meetings & review of current literature.
  • Pursue industry standard technical certifications.
  • Provide technical support and consultation to MIS staff.
IT Best Practices
  • Actively participate in the Department's ITIL processes; effectively use the Remedy system for installed aspects of the CNMC ITIL
  • implementation.
  • Participate in the Incident Management process; proactively work to resolve Incidents and meet service requests; document relevant data on requests and resolutions in agreed upon timeframe.
  • Escalate incidents according to procedures; convert incidents to change requests as needed.
  • Participate in the Change Control process; complete change tasks and update them with relevant information and status changes.
