The Student Express Associate/Campus Cashier is a highly visible position that provides excellent customer service, confidential & professional communication both face-to-face and virtually to community members who contact the college through various channels such as phone, email, video conferencing or IM/Chat. This position demonstrates a high level of knowledge and understanding of Student Services and Enrollment Management information and processes.

This position is under the supervision of the Director of Express Services & the Student Services Center Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Assistance:
  • Assist customers from initial contact to issue resolution or referral.
  • Actively listen, demonstrate patience, and understand others' backgrounds.
  • Provide accurate information on college processes, procedures, and resources.
  • Uphold a high level of professionalism in verbal and written communication.
Technology Utilization:
  • Effectively use Gateway's Student Information System, communication systems, and other technologies for daily tasks.
  • Possess a working knowledge of internet access and business applications (Word, Excel, Google Drive).
Transaction Management:
  • Conduct transactions adhering to general operating procedures in Admissions, Testing, Student Records and Registration, Financial Aid, and Student Accounts.
  • Complete verifications of student account transactions, reconciliation, deposits, change orders, and account reversals.
Team Collaboration:
  • Work positively in a demanding, high-volume, fast-paced, team-oriented environment both independently and collaboratively.
  • Provide cashier training, maintain cashier-related processes/documents, and act as a resource for the campus Express Services team.
Support and Flexibility:
  • Provide support for College partners, including recruitment and retention activities/events.
  • Flexibility required for positions that float to other campuses when needed, occasionally with short or same-day notice.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THE POSITION

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical Diploma PLUS 2 years of experience in a call center environment or front-line customer service

OR
  • 3 years of experience in a call center environment or front-line customer service.

PLUS
  • Experience in data entry and payment processing.
  • One year experience in bookkeeping, financial ledgers, or bank deposits OR One year of accounting coursework (two semesters)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Fluency in speaking Spanish

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Ability to travel, occasionally on short notice, to other campuses. (Applicable to floater position ONLY).

Ninety (90) day waiting period before benefits become payable. 66 2/3% of salary during period of disability to be reviewed by insurance company at the end of two years. Premium paid by District.

GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE & DISMEMBERMENT (SYMETRA)

WISCONSIN RETIREMENT SYSTEM

The employer pays 6.5% and the employee pays 6.5% of the shares. Normal retirement benefits are based on a formula for retirement at age 65.

IRS SECTION 125 PLAN (Employee Benefits Corp.)

Employee can put pre-tax money into an account to be used toward medical/day care expenses - Flexible Spending Account. Maximum $2,850 for medical; $5,000 for childcare.

TAX DEFERRED ANNUITY: 403b or 457 are available on a voluntary basis.

HOLIDAYS: 11 paid holidays per year

CAMPUS SHUT-DOWN: The campus will be closed between Christmas & New Year's Day.

SICK LEAVE: 12 days per year cumulative to 180 days.

PART-TIME EMPLOYEES:
Part-time employees working 20-39 hours per week will receive pro-rated benefits based on hours worked.
Part-time employees working 19 hours, or less, per week will receive holiday pay based on the amount of hours worked in the prior quarter and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System.
