Description

  • Grow leadership capacity and supervise speech-language pathology (SLP) coaches
  • Develop, refine and evaluate long-term and short-term plans for the delivery of aligned effective special education services for students with communication disorders coded with Speech Impairment
  • Develop, facilitate and/or present training to SLP program staff and central staff that supports department and district's vision.
  • Collaborate with vertically and horizontally integrated teams, including but not limited to general education and related service, to improve the quality and effectiveness of speech-language pathology programs and services
  • Ensure ongoing support to teachers, including but not limited to staff development, mentoring and technical support that focuses on students' success in the areas of speech, language and communication
  • Ensure that student evaluation and services for students with communication disorders are aligned with state and federal law as well as District policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with a variety of community partners and contracted agencies to insure quality services to students with communication disorders
  • Engage in proactive management of all aspects of the SLP Program while encouraging the use of current good practices for school-based SLP services as described in the literature
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the speech program budget
  • Develop, refine and evaluate an innovative recruitment and retention plan to address staffing shortage in speech-language pathology
  • Participate in professional development and training in professional issues related to leadership and school-based speech-language pathology
  • Perform all duties relating to the IDEA grant and provide leadership for 100% compliance with federal mandates related to identification and services for students with Speech Impairment
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Higher in Speech and Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
  • Valid Texas license for Speech and Language Pathology granted by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)
  • 5 years of experience as a school based SLP with 3 years of experienceSupervising Licensed SLP-Assistants and/or Licensed Interns/Clinical Fellows required
  • Experience in program and budget development
  • Ability to coordinate and monitor departmental operations
  • Knowledge of assessments, assessment procedures, completing and writing reports after an assessment, ARD/IEP meetings (paperwork and conducting the meetings), IEPs, therapy (activities, materials, timing, curriculum alignment), and documentation of therapy
  • Supervision experience of Licensed SLP-Assistant and/or Licensed Intern/Clinical Fellow
  • Ability to resolve conflict effectively and collaborate with others
  • Excellent organizational, communication, problem solving, budgeting, computer skills, spreadsheets, presentation application, Google drive, and interpersonal skills
