Thoracic Organ Procurement Specialist
JOB PURPOSE:
The specialist participates as a member of the transplant team by providing donor organ procurement services for the thoracic transplant program.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops and implements goals and objectives for procurement, which reflect the mission of the program.
2. Assess the staff supporting these procedures to enhance program/service delivery.
3. Operates within a budget for Transplant.
4. Conducts ongoing evaluation of the service delivered and implements improvements as necessary.
5. Evaluation of transplant organs and organ procurement, including DCD heart procurement.
6. Participate in and develop expertise in heart operations and post-transplant care.
7. Participate in non-transplant operations, including all aspects of cardiac surgery.
8. Participate in research.
9. Support as First Assist in other cases as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
1. Ability to express thoughts and ideas through the use of written and oral communication skills.
2. Organizational and problem-solving ability, with strong logical reasoning.
3. Ability to partner with operating unit heads to creatively solve problems.
4. Utilize foresight and proactivity to anticipate the needs of the department to ensure continuous improvement.
5. Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
6. Ability to work as a member of a team and be willing to pleasantly and efficiently understand and meet the needs of team members.
7. Flexible approach to people and work.
8. Skill and ability in Microsoft Office applications.

Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree

Previous surgical experience with heart procurement
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Georgia Medical License
