Position Summary

Provide general supervision and guidance to the operating section of the Campus Transit System in coordination with the Director and Associate Director of Transportation, Assistant Managers for Training and Maintenance, operations supervisors, and the campus and Athens community. Ensure that the daily operations, including support for campus events, are provided in a safe and timely manner in compliance with applicable laws, codes and policies.

Applicants submit to drug and alcohol testing by the US Department of Transportation.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of managing transit operations.
  • Knowledge of and ability to stay abreast of contemporary transit operations principles, techniques and developments.
  • Ability to work with data and optimize schedules, routes, and stops.
  • Thorough knowledge of Safety Management System principles and how to apply those principles.
  • Possess, or be able to obtain a Class B Georgia CDL within six months of the hire date.

Lead, manage and direct the operating division of the Campus Transit System under general guidance and supervision of the Director and Associate Director of Transportation and Parking Services.
