Under direct supervision with limited latitude for independent judgment, performs labor in support of the maintenance of the Institute's buildings and grounds.
Position Duties:
  • Maintain and clean office equipment, floors, walls, rugs, stairwells, lounges, bathrooms, lobbies, elevators and locker and storage facilities.
  • Mop, sweep, wash tiles and wall surfaces; remove trash and snow; apply cleaning agents.
  • Move furniture and equipment as needed or directed.
  • Maintain the safety and cleanliness of all exterior and interior walkways in assigned areas by sweeping, moping or with shovels, ice melting chemicals, etc.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment; oil, lubricate, clean and ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Maintain cleaning logs and inventory for supplies, hardware and equipment.
  • Report any visible damage, malfunctions, and accidents involving the Institute's equipment or property to the supervisor.
  • Serve as relief truck driver or truck assistant to pick up and deliver packages, furniture, and equipment.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education:
  • HS diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
  • 1 year of experience in housekeeping, cleaning or as a porter is required.
Required Skills:
  • Must possess knowledge of different types of cleaning equipment and the safe use of chemical cleaning agents.
  • Good verbal communication skills required.
  • Must be in excellent physical condition and be able to work in inclement weather as needed.
Certifications & Licenses:
  • Valid New York State Driver's License required.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications, ranging from $62,315.74 to $62,315.74.
This position will fully onsite.
This is a union-represented LOCAL 311 FACILITIES position
