Using sound engineering principles and industry knowledge, this Vice President will interface with cross functional groups (internal and external) to ensure robust, airworthy designs are attained which meet budget, schedule and internal requirements and goals. This leadership position will be responsible for participating in and leading improvement activities at a group and/or company level.
The VP of Engineering is responsible for defining and implementing the product roadmap and must possess a firm understanding of the key strategic elements. They must also have a solid technical grasp of architecture components so they can anticipate the risks and the technology choices to be made. This is a demanding strategic role, for which candidates must demonstrate both flexibility and a proven track record of technical expertise.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of system, electrical, mechanical, design, software engineers and managers
• Champions growth and skill development of engineering managers and individuals contributors
• Interfaces with various groups (internal and external) to support new business and bring projects to completion
• Fosters continuous improvement of means, methods, procedures and operations
• Identifies opportunities for improvements within WWS (engineering or company) and leads initiatives to implement solutions
• Responsible for the technical data produced from functional group
• Provides technical guidance and mentoring for functional group
• Ensures technical solutions meet customer and regulatory requirements
• Responsible for strategy of subject matter including developing and executing R&T roadmap
• Utilizes sound technical problem solving to lead ongoing and new projects
• Oversees research and/or testing for new development
• Ensures designs meet airworthiness standards, customer requirements and WWS internal standards
• Developing standards and procedures to ensure that quality standards are met and consistent.
• Contributing to recruitment activities.
• Preparing and optimizing budgets.
• Other duties as assigned

• Desired minimum of 20 years of engineering experience in the design and development of aircraft components and/or systems
Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to move around the office.
Work Environment - The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
Travel - Travel may be up to 25% depending on program assignment
