The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD, a cornerstone of comprehensive psychiatric care is seeking a visionary Vice President, Medical - Outpatient and Medical Education Programs! Your Role and Impact

As the VP, Medical - Outpatient and Medical Education Programs you will hold a pivotal role with extensive leadership scope and oversight of The Harris Center's four major outpatient psychiatric programs, co-location sites, and medical education programs. Your leadership will ensure the highest standards of patient care, balancing clinical excellence with contractual performance and regulatory compliance. The role also has responsibility for the divisional medical peer review, supervision and delegation for advanced practice providers (Physician Assistants, APRN/PMHNPs, clinical pharmacy specialists).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership in Medical Services: Overseeing the provision of medical services across outpatient programs, focusing on adult mental health, child/adolescent services, and integrated primary care.
  • Policy Development and Administration: Spearheading the development and administration of medical policies and procedures to enhance patient care and compliance.
  • Oversight of Medical Education: Directing the administration and growth of our medical education programs. The Harris Center has multiple medical educational programs in partnership with the local medical schools (Baylor College of Medicine, UTHealth Houston, University of Houston), supported by several state grants.
  • Oversight of Outpatient Medical Services: Providing oversight for the effective utilization of medical and pharmacy services in the Division.
  • Team Leadership: Leading and mentoring a diverse team of medical professionals, including the Medical Director of Medical Education, Lead Psychiatrists, and the Lead Primary Care Physician.


Who We Are Looking For
  • Education: B oard-Certified in psychiatry
      • Graduation from as Accredited Medical School and Psychiatric Residency Program.
      • Certificates, and Licenses: Texas Medical License
  • Experienced Leader: An individual who is board-certified in psychiatry with over 4 years of medical management experience, ideally within a community health center environment (FQHC or similar). Key leadership skills include organizational savviness, customer service/patient satisfaction focus, integrity, continuous learning mindset, clinical informatics, and passion for helping build the next generation of leaders in community mental health.
  • Skilled Communicator: Someone with strong communication skills to develop and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Change Agent: Proficiency in change management, clinical informatics, population health management, and physician performance management.
  • Educational Innovator: A passion for medical education and building the next generation of community mental health leaders.


What unique qualifications differentiate you from other candidates:

Strong preference for advanced administrative degree (MHA, MBA, MHSA, MPH) or FACHE, and specialty certification (child, addiction psychiatry), although not required.
